About Community Gardens
Approximately 20 Community Gardens Network volunteers joined together at the First Baptist Church Community Garden for a two-hour work session which involved spreading compost, picking greens, and tilling. Volunteers came from First Baptist Church, Newgate Mission, Church in the Wind, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, and East Side Christian Church for a productive and enjoyable time together. Thank you, Anup Bandarhi, for gifting each of those volunteers who are homeless with a warm blanket.

We asked, "How can we help the folks in our community who are hungry?" One of the answers was to create a network of community gardens across our city to create vegetable-producing places of beauty and nourishment!   With a growing need for food, this project teaches people to raise their own food--to cultivate the soil, properly plant, water and weed--all necessary aspects of gardening.
